Peab district manager Trygve Nilsen said: “We thank Statnett for entrusting us with this project and look forward to starting work on the new transformer station. It means a lot to us to be able to contribute to a project that ensures a reliable electricity supply to residents and businesses in Hålogaland.

“Since the work is being carried out in high-voltage substations the demands on planning and on work environment and safety procedures are stringent.”

Peab’s preparatory work for construction will include forest clearing, blasting, road construction, and cable laying.

Construction is scheduled to commence in May this year with a phased handover planned for late 2025.

Peab will register the project order in the second quarter of 2024.

This comes after Peab secured a contract from Nittedal Municipality to construct new water and wastewater pipelines in Norway last week.
