Specialist Apple technologies supplier RoomNetTV will deliver live DIRECTV content to hospitality venues in the US via Apple TV.

Guests will be able to view the content through RoomNetTV’s unique Apple TV media player, which is quickly becoming the leading Apple-based in-room entertainment solution for hospitality guests across the world. RoomNetTV’s Apple TV solution gives hotel guests in the US access to the full range of DIRECTV Hospitality content packages on an Apple device using hotels’ existing IPTV infrastructure. It’s the perfect (and long overdue) replacement to legacy proprietary Set Top Boxes.

AT&T Business commercial sales vice-president Doug Eichler said: “DIRECTV Hospitality is a leader in driving premium content in the hospitality industry, and we have been for over a decade.

“This relationship with RoomNetTV will further our leadership position by helping us bring DIRECTV programming content to more guests on more screens.”

RoomNetTV CEO Darren King said: “This is a great opportunity to help our respective organizations grow our market share. We’re delighted that we’re able to team up with such a forward-thinking company.”

RoomNetTV is making this announcement on 18 June 2018, coinciding with HITEC Houston, where RoomNetTV will be exhibiting at booth 600. RoomNetTV will also have a representative at the DIRECTV booth (1809) to help demonstrate the benefits of utilizing their combined capabilities.

RoomNetTV’s offering allows hotel guests to enjoy a range of curated content covering entertainment, music, sport, business and more. Now, RoomNetTV is able to provide its US-based users with premium live TV content, enabling them to access the full range of DIRECTV channels. Individual hotels can decide which DIRECTV package is relevant to its guests, which is then delivered to the guest room via RoomNetTV’s fully managed Apple TV device.

As the Apple experts in Hospitality and the leading provider of Apple based hotel entertainment and Wi-Fi solutions, RoomNetTV’s new solution empowers hotels to considerably enhance the in-room entertainment experience.

King added: “Our hospitality clients can provide television to their guests that is of genuine value, improving the guest experience and enabling them to access all of their favourite television shows and sports events while staying in their guest room, including OTT services like Netflix, Amazon video, YouTube and more.”

Additionally, with more and more content being accessible over the internet, international guests can also watch own language live TV content, complementing the DIRECTV channel line up.

Through RoomNetTV, guests can also access their Apple DRM protected content, play games, use Siri and much more, directly via their guest room TV. Apple users also get access to the entire Apple content and Apps ecosystem, already available to them at home.

King concluded: “We aim to provide a truly unique home-away-from-home hotel entertainment experience that enables guests to watch what they want, when they want. In-room entertainment services play a huge part in the guest’s perception of a hotel – by providing such a diversity of choice, hotels will only serve to enhance their image in the eyes of their guests.”
