Nordic construction company NCC has been tasked with redeveloping and extending the Metallum property in Espoo, Finland, by HGR Property Partners, a real-estate development and investment company.
The project, valued at approximately Skr500m ($51.97m), is adjacent to the Otaniemi University campus and includes the construction of new office and retail premises.
The redevelopment project encompasses a total area of approximately 19,500m², with about 15,000m² of new construction and 5,000m² of redevelopment.
The initiative also involves demolishing an existing building and constructing an underground garage.
A year-long development and planning phase preceded the final agreement.
Construction is set to begin immediately, with the project’s completion targeted for the end of 2026.

By GlobalDataThis order will be registered in the NCC Building Nordics business area in the second quarter of 2025.
NCC Building Nordics head Catarina Molén-Runnäs said: “Our task here is both to preserve a building of cultural and historical importance, and to build new premises. This requires careful craftsmanship and solid experience. We look forward to realising our shared vision together with HGR.â€
HGR Property Partners senior director of construction Veli-Matti Salonen said: “Over the past few years, we have worked in close dialogue with tenants, authorities, designers and NCC as a main contractor, to create a modern and user-oriented office property.
“Launching the project in this market situation signals that there is still a demand for high-quality projects, tailored to the needs of the user. This is an excellent example of good early-stage collaboration.”
In April 2025, NCC started the construction of a new primary school in Ängelholm, Sweden, in partnership with Ängelholmslokaler.
During the same month, property owner Hemsö selected NCC to redevelop Mälardalen University’s ‘S’ building in Västerås, Sweden, in a Skr150m project to transform the existing teaching facility into modern office spaces.
